The Dipsy Doodle Desert Derby is the second segment of the eleventh episode of Wacky Races, and the twenty-second race overall.
Summary[]
From downtown Death Valley to uptown Dunetown, most of the race takes place in the sand where the cars struggle for traction. All the cars start except for 00, which eventually gets going with a cannonball attached to the car. It momentarily takes the lead until the ball explodes. Because of the sandy roads, all cars try different techniques to progress in the race. The Slag Brothers push 1 to the top of hill but it rolls backwards and forwards, then collides with 10, where Rufus lifts the car and Sawtooth above his head. Dick Dastardly tries to balloon the tires of 00 but pumps too much on one tire, exploding it and sending him in the air. After he lands in the sand, he hears a voice from a bottle. He opens it to reveal Abu Boo Boo, the magic genie and Dick produces a scheme with Abu. The race continues onto much better road conditions. Suddenly, under orders from Dick, Abu creates a mirage in front of the leaders. 7 and 9 discuss the situation, then a bridge appears and all the racers drive through apart from 00. 00 thought the mirage wasn't real and went into it. Then Abu creates chaos for 00 without realizing it.
Leading the race, 9's tires create a sandstorm and 3 is caught in it but uses the vacuum cleaner to remove the sand and 9. Meanwhile, Dick talks to Abu about getting ahead of the race without errors, after Abu tries to flatten 4 but crushes Dick instead. Then Abu drops a 1000-pound anvil on 3 but Professor Pat Pending uses the trampoline on the top of his car, the anvil rebounds first onto Abu then Dick. Then Abu produces a flying carpet for Dick to travel on. The race is concluding, 7,1 and 2 uses their powers to try to take the lead but it's going to be a close finish, suddenly Dick and the carpet take the lead until he crashes into a tall plant.
Abu returns into the bottle and laughs, then Dick says "I'd teach you to laugh if I were in your place." Then Abu puts Dick Dastardly in the bottle. Drat!
